Description

Finally finished...a couple days after the projected time, but that's okay.

So this was an interesting piece. I really don't know where to start. I won't even try to say something like "I'm not really pleased with it" because, though that may be the truth, whenever I get close to saying that people jump down my throat and tell me it's really good. Which I appreciate...but the aforementioned statement is true nonetheless (sp?).

I don't know what it is about it. I'll just throw a bunch of stuff out there in the hopes that one of them will be right.

First of all, it's a professional photo (in the future I plan to request only snapshots). This means that it lacks a certain original quality...it lacks the life, the character that a spur-of-the-moment shot possesses. However, I've done professional photos before and been pleased with them...so that can't completely explain it. But I think that's part of it.

I'm quite pleased with how he turned out - if anything, he's a little light, but I'm too lazy to go back and make him darker. His shirt is definitely too light, but whatever.

She, however, is a different story. There's something about her...her mouth, the height of her face, her eyes, something...that's just not the same as the photo. All the measurements seem right, but it's just not the same. I can't really explain it. It's weird. However, the commissioner couldn't see it and was extremely pleased when I showed her the WIP, so that's all good.

I like drawing hair. I think it's my favorite part, behind maybe the eyes. It's tedious. But I enjoy it. I like how hers turned out, except for some of it...it's a little flat and dry. Alas. I might try to fix that later.

But enough complaining! If you've read this far, congratulations, I really like you and I think you're cool. Overall, it works. I don't know. I'm tired of talking about it. Judge for yourselves! =P

By the way, it's a surprise for their wedding. The commissioner is her mother.
